Bentley Mulliner, the British brand’s personalization division, delivered three made-to-order Continental to Bentley Warsaw, each inspired by a celestial body: Sun, Earth and Moon.

Presented on September 21, the Nicolaus Copernicus Collection honors the Polish polymath who proposed the Sun, and not the Earth, at the center of the system. There are two Continental GT S coupes and a Continental GTC S convertible, all unique pieces. Values were not disclosed.

The element that unites the three cars is the Copernicus Diagram, an orbital graphic with the eight planets of the solar system: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The design appears embroidered and embossed on the center console, the front and rear padded panels, the welcome lights and the hood compartment cover.

It is worth the historical caveat: Uranus and Neptune were only identified as planets in 1781 and 1846, centuries after Copernicus’ death in 1543.

Natural stone instead of wood

Instead of traditional wood or carbon fibre finishes, Mulliner has resorted to natural stone cladding. The Sun, the trio’s only convertible, is a GTC S painted in Manuka Orange, with orange main leather and Gravity Grey secondary cladding.

Copper Stone marquetry appears on the dashboard and on the waist of the doors, while orange stitching and piping on the carpet reinforce the allusion to the center of the solar system.

Earth, one of the coupes, received the exclusive Nebula Blue color and an interior in Imperial Blue and Aegean Blue leather, with Galaxy Stone details, silver contrast stitching and a center console with a satin finish in Imperial Blue.

The Moon, the second coupe in the collection, features the Moonstruck silver finish, created to resemble the surface of the satellite. The interior combines Beluga leather, very dark, with Ice leather appliqués on the seats, center console, dashboard and door linings.

680 hp and matching scarves

The mechanics are the same in all three. All use the V8 4.0 biturbo plug-in hybrid engine with 680 hp and 94,8 kgfm, a set that takes the Continental from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,5 seconds, reaches 306 km/h and runs up to 80 km on electric power alone. Completing the package are 22″ wheels with ten spokes in glossy black and carbon-ceramic brakes.

The order did not stop at the car. Each unit received sills and a key box of exclusive design, Mulliner mats and its own fragrance, as well as pocket squares and scarves with the colors of each theme.
