Truck driver Gabriel Allan Rodrigues, 20, was stopped by the Military Police after being mistaken for a child while driving a truck in Jaraguá do Sul (SC). The young man, 1.60 m tall and with a high-pitched voice, says that similar situations are part of the routine and that he needs to present documents to prove his own age.
The approach took place last Thursday (20). Gabriel was following the public road when he noticed that a garrison, coming in the opposite direction, made a U-turn and started to accompany him. The police then stopped the truck and asked the driver questions.
The suspicion was that a child was driving the vehicle. After checking the National Driver’s License (CNH), however, the agents found that Gabriel is of legal age and is duly qualified.
In an interview with G1, Gabriel said that this was not the first time he was stopped by police, or that they doubted his age because of his appearance. The truck driver said that he has been mistaken several times for teenagers and, in extreme cases, even for 10-year-old children.
Barred from the ball
According to him, the situation already happened when he drove cars and became even more recurrent after he started working with trucks. In deliveries and collections, for example, he has been prevented from entering certain places because employees believed he was a minor.
On another occasion, at a delivery dock, they even asked him to help the alleged driver park the truck. Even with his younger appearance, Gabriel takes the situation as a joke, but to avoid problems the truck driver started to carry his identification documents with him at all times.
