Deadlines for payment of the annual renewal fee are from July to December; see how to pay in person or online
The Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV) must be renewed annually. This occurs automatically with the payment of the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) and the Annual Vehicle Licensing Renewal Fee (TRLAV). The São Paulo Traffic Department (Detran-SP) has already released the dates and values of the 2026 licensing.
Once paid, the new document can be accessed through the CNH do Brasil application, the service portal of the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran) or the Detran website.

For the process to be complete and the driver to be able to issue the CRLV, in addition to paying the fee, it is necessary that he has also paid the IPVA and all traffic fines and pending issues associated with the vehicle.
The TRLAV in São Paulo has a value of R$ 174.08. Unlike the IPVA, which can be paid in installments, the licensing fee must be paid in a single quota. Payment can be made in person or online, with just a few details.
Since 2020, the CRLV has been issued in digital format. After paying the fee in the banking system, the document can be accessed through the Detran-SP portal, the federal government’s CNH do Brasil application or the Senatran service portal.
To start the process, inform if the vehicle is yours or someone else’s and select or enter the license plate and Renavam number of the vehicle you want to license.
On the Detra-SP website, the process can be done as follows:
According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), driving with an expired CRLV is a very serious infraction, with a fine of R$ 293.47 and seven points on the National Driver’s License (CNH).
