The Rio de Janeiro Traffic Department (Detran-RJ) released information on the payment of the Annual Vehicle Licensing Renewal Fee (TRLAV). With paid 2026 licensing, it is possible to automatically renew the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV).

Once the fee is paid, the new document can be accessed through the CNH do Brasil application, the Senatran service portal or the Detran website.

When does the 2026 licensing release?

The DMV-RJ has established the TRLAV payment schedule that varies according to the end of the vehicle’s license plate:

  • Finals 0, 1 and 2 – May 31;
  • Finals 3, 4 and 5 – June 30;
  • Finals 6, 7, 8 and 9 – July 31;

Until the end of these deadlines, the 2025 licensing document will be valid, and users will not be harmed.

For the process to be complete and the driver to be able to issue the CRLV, in addition to paying the fee, it is necessary that he has also paid the IPVA and all traffic fines and pending issues associated with the vehicle. Debts from previous years also prevent the issuance of the document.

How much does RJ licensing 2026 cost

TRLAV in Rio de Janeiro has one of the highest values in the country, costing R$ 293.71. Payment can be made 100% digitally.

How to pay TRLAV RJ and download CRLV

To obtain the CRLV 2026, it is necessary to pay the Fee Regularization Guide (GRT), obtained on the Bradesco website. After payment, the digital licensing document can be accessed by the user at the Detran RJ Digital Post, in the CNH do Brasil application (former Digital Transit Card – CDT) or through the portal of the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran).

To complete this action, you must be registered in the Gov.br. Those who prefer can request the printing of the CRLV-e on A4 paper at a Detran RJ inspection post. Check out the step-by-step guide to issue the car document on each platform:

Detran.RJ Digital Station

  1. Enter the Detran.RJ website and click on the Digital Post tab in the top bar
  2. Click on ‘Access the Portal’ via gov.br; on the following screens, enter CPF and password
  3. At the Digital Post, click on the ‘Vehicles’ tab
  4. Select the vehicle to be consulted
  5. In the Digital Documents tab, click on ‘Issue CRLVe’
  6. Print the digital document on A4 paper or save it in PDF to use it on your cell phone, notebook or other platforms.

App CNH do Brasil

  1. Install the CNH do Brasil app on your cell phone
  2. Register the user
  3. Once the app is installed, open and select: ‘Sign in with gov.br’
  4. On the next screen, enter CPF and select ‘Next’
  5. On the next screen, create an account and, after creating it, return to the app and click on ‘Sign in with gov.br’;
  6. Log in;
  7. Select ‘Vehicles’;
  8. Enter the Renavam number and the CRV security number (it is the old DUT, with 11 characters);
  9. Select ‘Include’ and your digital CRLV will be ready.

LEGAL ENTITY

Senatran Services Portal (Legal Entity)

  1. Access Senatran’s Services Portal
  2. Click on ‘Enter with gov.br’, then select ‘Digital certificate’
  3. On the home screen click on ‘My Vehicles’
  4. Next, the vehicles registered in the name of the legal entity will be displayed
  5. Click on the desired vehicle, then download the CRLV in ‘pdf’ or ‘p7s’ formats
  6. The document will be downloaded and you can print it on A4 sheet.

Requirements: ICP-Brasil Digital Certificate (A1 or A3) issued in the name of the legal entity that owns the vehicle.

What can prevent you from doing licensing

There are some reasons that can prevent the issuance of the annual vehicle licensing document. They are:

  • Not having paid the GRT for 2026 or previous years;
  • For gas vehicles, not having carried out the CNG inspection in the current year (CSV). The issuance of the CRLV-e in gas vehicles is subject to the annual proof of the new Vehicle Safety Certificate (CSV);
  • Have been stopped in an inspection operation by the DMV and have not complied with any requirements, being subject to registration restrictions;
  • Have any administrative or judicial restriction that prevents the licensing of the vehicle;
  • Have failed to complete a process at a Detran-RJ service station, leaving the protocol open;
  • Have failed to respond to the recall call from the vehicle manufacturer;
  • Have performed the Communication of Sale or Intention to Sell service;
  • Have made any changes to the characteristics of the vehicle (with CSV issuance) that have not yet been updated in the DMV system.

Fine for late licensing

According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), driving with an expired CRLV is a very serious infraction, with a fine of R$ 293.47 and seven points on the National Driver’s License (CNH).
