Owners in Maranhão can choose to pay in advance with a 10% discount or to pay in up to three installments
The State Secretariat of Finance (Sefaz) of Maranhão released the information regarding the Tax on the Property of Motor Vehicles (IPVA) for next year. According to the agency, IPVA MA 2026 collections start in February, with some forms of payment:

Sefaz-MA established that those who choose to pay the tax in cash will have to do so in advance until February 27 with a 10% discount. Installments of amounts equal to or less than R$ 100 will not be allowed.
Those who want to pay in installments will not have a reduction and the expiration of the first installment takes place in March. Regarding the state rates, the rates will remain the same for 2026, they are:
The consultation of the values referring to the different models and vehicles that are in circulation can now be done on the IPVA page, on the Sefaz portal, accessing the “Tables and Documents” menu.
The first payment is scheduled for February 27, 2026, for those opting for the single quota. For those who opt for installments, the due dates take place from the month of March, according to the final number of the vehicle’s license plate.

The payment of the IPVA 2025 will be made available in the Sefaz-MA system from the first business day of January 2025. The taxpayer does not need to go to the service agencies to regularize the IPVA, since all payment and installment services are available on the IPVA page, on the website of the Department of Finance or on the website of the DMV-MA.

A novelty that facilitates the process is the option of payment via PIX, by the QR Code informed in the DARE (Collection Document). The IPVA can also be paid by Credit Card, available through the Secretariat’s Portal in the option of “IPVA Installment – Credit Card Installment”.
If there is a delay in the payment of the installments, the taxpayer may pay them, but with the addition of a fine and default interest calculated from the due date.
