Xiaomi, the Chinese giant that has consolidated its empire in the smartphone market, is now accelerating its definitive foray into elite motorsport. To this end, the manufacturer unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo EV: a concept hypercar developed exclusively for the PlayStation simulator. With the announcement, the brand becomes the first in China to join the prestigious Vision GT program, appearing in a restricted catalog that houses legends such as Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

The aerodynamic design and the “sculpted by the wind” concept
The model’s design breaks with the conventional aesthetic of large wings and external appendages. Under the “sculpted by the wind” concept, Xiaomi integrated the aerodynamic components directly into the body structure. The cabin has a teardrop shape that appears to float over the chassis, surrounded by airflow channels and hollow sections designed to minimize resistance. Visual elements such as the cross-shaped headlights and the “halo” taillight do not only have aesthetic purposes: they act as functional ducts that direct air to ensure stability at high speeds.

The technical result is a drag coefficient of just 0.29 and an aerodynamic efficiency index of 4.1 – high-level marks achieved via advanced simulations. Inside, the cockpit works as a technological “cocoon” that connects the pilot to the brand’s digital ecosystem through the MiMo artificial intelligence system, offering sensory interactions by sound, light and touch.
From the virtual environment to the real tracks
Although the project has as its natural habitat the virtual asphalt of Gran Turismo 7, Xiaomi took a full-size replica to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to demonstrate its physical engineering capacity. The move fuels speculation about the production of an actual hypercar, especially after the global impact of the SU7 Ultra sedan on the Nürburgring circuit. For Xiaomi, the Vision GT is more than a design exercise; It is a statement of intent at the top of the global automotive chain.
