Tokio Marine has included a new benefit in Travel Insurance: customers who contract the product now have a 12% discount on daily car rentals from SIXT, a German rental company with international operations. The advantage was made possible by a partnership between the two companies and was announced on July 23, according to InsurTalks

The proposal is to bring together coverage and mobility at the same stage of travel planning. While the policy protects the insured in the situations provided for in the contract, the rebate is levied on one of the heaviest expenses of those who disembark and need a car at the destination – an item that, on road routes, usually rivals the expense of accommodation.

The discount is in addition to other benefits that the insurer already associates with the product, such as telemedicine with 24-hour service, coverage for delay and loss of luggage, reimbursement of medical and dental expenses, health return and rebate on the purchase of an international chip. Tokio Marine’s Travel Insurance is sold nationally and internationally.

Relevant points for the consumer, however, were left out of the announcement: the eligible vehicle categories were not detailed, whether the discount is valid for rentals made in Brazil, whether it is cumulative with promotions from the rental company itself and for how long the condition will be available.

Founded in 1912 in Germany and still controlled by the family that gives it its name, SIXT operates, according to the company, more than 2 thousand service points in more than 105 countries. The fleet ranges from economy models to SUVs, vans, convertibles and higher-end vehicles, which expands the range of those traveling with family or for work.
