The City of São Paulo, through the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), announced the suspension of the municipal rotation of vehicles during the Carnival holiday. The measure will be valid between next Monday (16) and Tuesday (17), extending until the morning of Wednesday (18), when the restriction is back in force only in the afternoon.
The suspension covers all passenger cars in the Expanded Center of the capital, a region delimited by the Pinheiros and Tietê marginal roads, Bandeirantes and Afonso d’Escragnolle Taunay avenues, Maria Maluf Road Complex, Tancredo Neves and Provisional Juntas avenues, Grande São Paulo Viaduct and Professor Luís Inácio de Anhaia Mello and Salim Farah Maluf avenues.

Despite the release for cars, the municipal administration points out that the restrictions for heavy vehicles remain unchanged. The rules of the Maximum Restriction Zone for the Circulation of Trucks (ZMRC) and the Maximum Restriction Zone for Charter (ZMRF) continue to apply, as well as the exclusive bus lanes, which continue with normal inspection to ensure the fluidity of public transport.
The usual rotation operation will be fully resumed on Thursday (19), at peak hours: from 7 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm. It is important to remember that circulating at restricted times and places constitutes a traffic violation of a medium nature, with a fine in the amount of R$ 130.16 and an increase of four points in the National Driver’s License (CNH).
For those who intend to circulate around the city, CET recommends attention to signage and occasional blockades due to the passage of carnival blocks, which can change the itinerary in several areas of the capital.
