After facelift and technological update, sales of the Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X grow 2,318%; Taken by surprise, automaker rushes to meet demand
Brazil’s car sales ranking in March was released, and the Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X showed an impressive performance. The compact SUV registered a 2,318% increase in sales compared to February, jumping from 207 to 5,007 registrations last month.
The multiplication of the Tiggo 5X on the streets is a direct result of the update of the model, which received extensive news in the 2027 line. However, it seems that Caoa Chery itself did not expect such adhesion from the public.
According to QUATRO RODAS, those who purchase a unit today, wait one to three months in line to receive it. In some locations, however, the delay reaches four months. The automaker itself admitted surprise at the increase in sales and the vehicles that arrive at the stores are not even exposed: soon they are sent to more customers.

In its update, the Tiggo 5X gained a new front grille, redesigned full-LED headlights and bumpers with more aggressive lines. The interior now has a 20.5″ curved screen, which unites the digital instrument panel and the multimedia center in a single high-definition piece.
The model now offers 7 airbags as standard, including a central airbag between the front seats to prevent collision between occupants in side collisions. In addition, the center console has been redesigned to include, among other things, an induction cell phone charger with smartphone cooling.

Also included is a 7-year warranty for the entire line, panoramic sunroof, ADAS package, 360º parking camera and dual zone air conditioning. There are two versions: the Tiggo 5X Sport (R$ 124.990) and Tiggo 5X Pro (R$ 141.990). Both come with a 1.5 turbo flex engine with 150 hp and 22,7 kgfm and a nine-speed CVT transmission.
The March sales ranking revealed, in addition to the Caoa Chery Tiggo 5X, other major movements in sales volumes. This is the case, for example, of the Toyota Yaris Cross: after the launch in February, the hybrid SUV finally geared up in registrations, which grew 552%, reaching 3,864 units, according to data from K.LUME Consultoria.
In the case of the Geely EX2, the month of February was marked by an abrupt drop, as the rival of the BYD Dolphin sold more than expected. Because of this, the first batch ended and sales for the previous month were practically suspended.
With the arrival of a new batch, sales of the compact grew by exactly 500%, reaching the. 1,157 copies. Similar success was recorded by the Chevrolet Spark EUV (+295%) and the Nissan Kait (+245%).

In the negative part of the ranking, the biggest drop was the Toyota RAV4, whose sales of the current generation plummeted by 66%. This has to do with the end of stocks of the hybrid SUV, which will receive a new generation in Brazil soon.
Another victim of the changes in consumer taste is the Volkswagen Amarok, which fell 47% and sold only 125 units last month. The BYD Seal (-20%) and the Ford Bronco (-17%) complete the infamous list.
