51-year-old driver punched elderly man; The victim, Irish, hit her head on the curb and was hospitalized in serious condition in Spain
A 51-year-old taxi driver was arrested in the act in Fuengirola, in southern Spain, on charges of seriously assaulting a 65-year-old Irish tourist. The incident, which occurred in the tourist region of Costa del Sol, would have been motivated by a burp given by the victim inside the vehicle after a night of fun in the city. The disproportionality of the aggression mobilized rapid response units of the local police.
According to the police report, the driver interrupted the trip and expelled the tourist and a companion from the car. At the moment the passengers disembarked, the taxi driver allegedly punched the elderly man. With the impact, the victim fell and hit his head violently against the curb, suffering severe injuries to the face and skull. The victim’s friend was not hit.

The tourist was rescued and sent in serious condition to a hospital unit in Marbella. The driver was indicted for the crime of serious bodily injury. After giving testimony in an investigative court, he was released on bail, but will respond to the process in freedom.
