Volkswagen has introduced the second generation of the Atlas — its largest SUV in the United States — updating its seven-seater SUV for the 2027 lineup in the local market. The model adopts a revised version of the MQB modular architecture and is now equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, calibrated to deliver 282 hp and 35.0 kgfm, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Cabin adopts larger screens and resumes the use of physical buttons
The instrument panel has been restructured and houses new multimedia centers, whose screens range from 12.9″ in the entry-level versions to 15″ in the top-of-the-line configurations. The cabin employs materials such as Nappa leather and genuine wood panels, as well as an integrated LED ambient lighting system.

Responding to public criticism about the ergonomics of recent launches, the manufacturer has reintroduced physical controls in the center console. The Atlas 2027 now has a multifunctional rotary selector, called the “driver experience dial“, which centralizes the volume adjustments of the audio system, the selection of driving modes and the control of interior lighting, operating in conjunction with the air conditioning sliders.
4Motion recharging and all-wheel drive technology

The three-row SUV integrates two induction charging pads with MagSafe technology at the front, in addition to USB-C ports distributed throughout the seats. The seats in the first and second row have heating and ventilation systems, while the front seats also offer a massage function.
The bodywork shares the main stamping with the recently launched Teramont Pro from the Chinese market, but the Western model retains the use of traditional physical door handles. Mechanical force distribution acts on the front axle as standard, with the 4Motion all-wheel drive system offered as an option for the entire range. Alloy wheel options range from 18 to 21″.
