Toyota has confirmed the arrival of the new generation of the RAV4 to the Brazilian market for next April. The world’s best-selling SUV will be sold exclusively with a hybrid engine – a strategy that reinforces the Japanese automaker’s electrification plan in the country. The model will be offered in two trim versions, seeking to meet a consumer profile that requires greater technical sophistication and convenience.

Positioned hierarchically above the Corolla Cross, the new RAV4 now operates in the upper range of the medium SUV segment. With the repositioning, Toyota targets strong competitors, such as Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan, in addition to flirting with premium niche models.

Visually, the new generation presents an aesthetic rupture. The front displays lines that refer to the design of the new Toyota Prius, with caliper-shaped headlights and a redesigned front grille that favors aerodynamics. On the sides, the square wheel arches give it robustness, while the rear adopts vertical taillights that expand the feeling of width. Built on the TNGA-K platform, the SUV had its dimensions optimized: the wheelbase is 2.69 m and the trunk grew from 733 to 749 liters.

Under the hood, the hybrid set combines the 2.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors, varying according to traction. Inside, the novelties include a fully digital instrument panel and a 12.9″ multimedia center. The Toyota Safety Sense safety package has also been updated with new pre-collision sensors.

Although plug-in hybrid versions (PHEV) exist abroad with an electric range of up to 100 km, Toyota has not yet detailed which exact mechanical configurations land here. For now, the S and SX versions are confirmed. Currently, the RAV4 is sold in Brazil in a single version for R$ 349.290.
