Proposal approved in committee requires dealerships to install fast charging points and ensure compatibility between different vehicle models
The Constitution, Justice and Writing Commission of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) has taken a decisive step towards the expansion of electromobility in the state. Among the 109 bills approved this Wednesday (8), PL 306/2025 stands out, which makes it mandatory to install charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on all highways granted to the private sector in São Paulo territory.
Authored by Deputy Antonio Donato (PT), the proposal seeks to solve one of the main obstacles to the popularization of battery vehicles in Brazil: the “autonomy anxiety” outside urban perimeters. According to the text, the concessionaires must not only install the stations, but ensure the technical compatibility between different charger standards, allowing drivers of different brands to use the support points.

Still on the road infrastructure spectrum, the commission validated PL 257/2025, by Deputy Sebastião Santos (Republicans). The project provides for camera monitoring on walkways and overpasses considered critical, aiming to curb attacks on vehicles and increase security in stretches of high crime incidence. Complementing the sustainable agenda, PL 1243/2025 establishes the São Paulo Program for Incentive and Acceleration of Energy Transition (Propaten-SP), which provides tax benefits for low-carbon projects.
