With semi-solid-state batteries and autonomous driving technology, the new utility seeks to attract a young audience and displace the Yuan Pro.
MG Motor has made official the arrival of the MG 4X in Brazil. The electric SUV is expected to land on the market later this year to intensify the Chinese offensive in the country. Built on the platform of the MG4 hatch — a model sold here since 2025 — the new SUV arrives with the clear mission of facing the BYD Yuan Pro, a reference in the entry-level segment of electric vehicles and sold at around R$ 190.000.
The model was designed to balance the visual appeal aimed at the young audience with the functionality of a taller and more spacious body. Aesthetically, the MG 4X inherits traits from the MG S5, but is differentiated by exclusive elements, such as the luminous front logo and an LED signature that crosses the front, giving it a more technological and dynamic look.

With a length of 4.39 meters and a wheelbase of 2.75 m, the MG 4X is slightly larger than BYD’s rival, which translates into a superior cabin performance. However, the real trump card lies in the mechanical assembly: the SUV uses semi-solid-state batteries with a manganese base. With only 5% liquid electrolyte, this technology offers greater thermal stability and superior efficiency at low temperatures. The promised autonomy is 510 km in the Chinese cycle, which should result in up to 400 km in the strict Inmetro standard.
Inside, MG bets on connectivity: the multimedia system, developed in partnership with mobile device manufacturer Oppo, promises above-average integration between the vehicle and the smartphone. In addition, safety is enhanced by hardware from Horizon Robotics, which enables the Navigate on Pilot (NOA) system, enabling advanced roadside assistance and fully automated parking maneuvers.
