Leapmotor is coming to the market with force and now the brand is preparing to enter the segment of electric compact hatches with the A05.

According to documents from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), it is already possible to get a sense of the model’s design and some of its technical specifications, including engine data.

Under the hood, the A05 will feature two engine options, one with 95 horsepower and the other with 122 hp. The model will be able to reach a top speed of 160 km/h, which is on par with the BYD Dolphin. The battery will be of the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) type, supplied by Chinese companies Gotion High-Tech and Zhengli New Energy. Information on capacity, voltage or autonomy has not yet been released.

In terms of dimensions, the hatch follows the segment standard, with 4.20 m long, 1.80 m wide and 1.56 m high, in addition to a wheelbase of 2.61 m. The look, in turn, refers to the Leapmotor A10, with compact full LED headlights, square-shaped taillights, a short and slightly curved hood, in addition to a large cabin.

The interior design has not yet been revealed. However, the expectation is that the model will follow the brand’s current standard, with a multimedia center and digital panel composed of large screens.

There is still no official forecast for the arrival of Leapmotor’s new hatch in Brazil, being restricted to the Chinese market. However, with the Beijing Motor Show scheduled for April, expectations are growing for a possible announcement.

The international expansion strategy of the Leapmotor A05 should prioritize Europe and South America, driven by Stellantis’ plans. With the national production of hybrid and electric vehicles already confirmed for the plant in Goiana (PE), the expectation is that the model will reach the Brazilian market in 2027, with the potential to become one of the brand’s best sellers in the country.
