Jeep announced the expansion of its homologated armor program for the Commander, the brand’s largest SUV produced in Brazil. The service, which was already offered for the Compass, uses level III-A protection — the highest level of ballistic resistance authorized by the Brazilian Army for civilian use. The main differential of the initiative is the maintenance of the five-year factory warranty, a critical point for owners who seek security without giving up the original coverage.

To make the project viable, Stellantis engineering established 43 strict technical criteria. Four specialized companies were selected and certified: Avallon, Evolution, Hi-Tech and Totality. All are part of the Brazilian Armoring Association (Abrablin) and have ISO 9001 and Bureau Veritas certifications, ensuring that the assembly process respects the vehicle’s structural tolerances.

The protection consists of a combination of aramid blanket, armored glass and ballistic steel reinforcements. According to the manufacturer, the installation method was designed to preserve the interior finish and the operation of the original electronic systems. The customer has the option of purchasing the already armored car directly at the dealership or requesting the service for new and used vehicles. In the case of used cars, the car must undergo a prior technical evaluation before being sent to the armored company.

With regard to technical support, Jeep retains responsibility for systems that have not been intervened. Components modified or replaced during the shielding will now have a warranty offered by the approved company, with the same term as the original coverage. To facilitate access to the service, Stellantis Financiamento allows the inclusion of the cost of protection in the installments of the vehicle, as long as it is a zero-kilometer model.

The average time for delivery of the armored vehicle is 30 days, which can extend to 45 working days. This period begins to count only after the issuance of the mandatory authorization by the Brazilian Army, varying according to regional logistics.
