In a milestone for the global automobile industry, the Jaecoo 7 became, in March 2026, the first model of Chinese origin to lead the monthly sales ranking in the United Kingdom. With 10,064 registrations, Chery’s SUV surpassed consolidated names in the British market, such as Ford Puma and Nissan Qashqai, consolidating the rapid rise of Asian brands in Europe.

In the first quarter, the model has already registered 15,569 units, touching the overall leadership of the year. It is much more than that recorded in Brazil, where the Jaecoo 7 has accumulated 4,925 registrations so far in 2026. The sales phenomenon in the United Kingdom is supported by an aggressive expansion strategy, with a network that already has 124 points of sale in the country, ensuring capillarity to face traditional automakers.

Energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness

The main driver of success in March was the plug-in hybrid version (PHEV), responsible for 85% of the sales mix. The set offers a range of 90 km in purely electric mode, attracting consumers looking to escape the volatility of fuel prices. Nicknamed on social media as “Temu’s Range Rover” for its design that refers to luxury SUVs, the Jaecoo 7 bets on value for money: prices range from £29,105 (R$ 186,270) in the gasoline version to £35,175 (R$ 225,120) in the top-of-the-line hybrid.

The brand’s performance comes in a month of strong recovery for the British sector, which had its best performance since 2019, with 380 thousand vehicles sold. However, the scenario remains challenging. While the geopolitical crisis in Iran has driven up the cost of gasoline, encouraging the shift to electrified, owners face a 140% increase in the value of public charging over the past five years, in addition to growing pressure on the cost of batteries.
