Hyundai will distribute miles from the Smiles program to those who test-drive the i20 between August and September. The action, carried out in partnership with GOL Linhas Aéreas, provides for the delivery of vouchers on board 200 of the company’s flights. Each customer who completes the process receives 5,000 miles.

The mechanics are as follows: the passenger receives a voucher with a QR Code on the flight that leads to an online registration. After filling out the form, he needs to test-drive the i20 at a participating dealership. The miles are automatically credited to the Smiles account after the experience.

The automaker did not say which routes and dealerships are in the action or until when the test drive needs to be done to be worth the credit.

How much is 5 thousand Smiles miles worth

According to Hyundai, the balance is equivalent to a seat upgrade on GOL’s domestic flights. It is worth a warning: the price in miles of the GOL + Conforto seat is dynamic and varies according to the flight, the advance and the availability of seats, which means that 5,000 miles do not guarantee the benefit on any segment.

Platforms for buying and selling miles quoted the Smiles thousand between R$ 15 and R$ 16 in July, a range that would put the 5 thousand miles at something between R$ 75 and R$ 80. The balance does not issue a domestic ticket, which usually starts at 10 thousand miles, but can be added to what the customer already has or used in individual services, such as baggage allowance.

To publicize the campaign, Hyundai last week promoted an action on GOL flight 1356, from São Paulo to Salvador: passengers in row 20 were relocated to GOL + Conforto seats, which offer more legroom and greater recline. The initiative follows the i20 TV campaign, which debuted on national television this month.

Produced in Piracicaba (SP), the i20 hit stores in July with six versions and prices from R$ 99,990 to R$ 139,990. The line starts with the Comfort 1.0 manual and goes through Limited manual (R$ 104.990), Limited automatic (R$ 125.990), X Line (R$ 128.990), Platinum (R$ 134.990) and Ultimate, at the top.

The two entry-level configurations use the 1.0 Kappa aspirated three-cylinder, with 80 hp and 10,2 kgfm in ethanol and 75 hp in gasoline, always with a five-speed manual transmission. From the automatic Limited upwards comes the 1.0 TGDI turbo direct injection, with 115 hp in both fuels and 17,5 kgfm from 1.500 rpm, associated with the six-speed automatic. All versions come with six airbags as standard.
