Mattel has scheduled for August 18 the sale of the most disputed miniature of the year among Hot Wheels collectors: a Ferrari F40 in 1:64 scale exclusive to the Red Line Club (RLC), the premium arm of the brand. The lot goes live at the equivalent of 1 p.m. Brasilia time, on the Mattel Creations website, for about R$ 259 (US$ 50), before taxes and fees. Only those who are members of the club will be able to buy it.

The part is one of the first Ferraris to return to the RLC after Mattel renewed the licensing agreement with the Italian company. The resumption began in 2025, with a set of two miniatures that brought together the 312 P and the 499P Modificata, also exclusive to the club.

Two moving parts, rarity in 1:64 scale

What underpins the price is the trim level. The miniature has a front hood and rear lid that open, a feature still uncommon in 1:64 cars, and the back lid reveals a replica of the engine. The bodywork is made of ZAMAC, with bright red Spectraflame paint developed specifically for the project, applied over a silver plating that covers the entire part.

The rest of the sheet follows the pattern of the club’s most expensive editions: five-spoke Real Riders wheels with silver rim, one-piece metal chassis in matte black, windows with light tinting and black interior. The packaging, according to the manufacturer, was designed to serve as a display and comes inside an external box with a soft finish.

The choice of model has symbolic weight. The F40 was created to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine capable of exceeding 320 km/h, and is described by Mattel as the last Ferrari approved by Enzo Ferrari himself.

Restricted access and long wait

Access to the purchase is linked to the Red Line Club subscription. Non-members won’t even see the add to cart button when the sale opens. There is also a limit of two units per customer, a measure that the company uses to make it difficult for resellers to act.

Even those who secure the miniature in the first minute will wait. Mattel said that shipments should only start at the end of November or December 2026, that is, three to four months after the purchase. The company did not disclose how many units will be produced.
