Florida won the title of the most beautiful police car in the United States for the fourth consecutive time. In the 13th edition of the contest promoted by the American Association of State Patrolmen (AAST), the black and beige Ford Mustang of the Florida Highway Patrol secured victory after a turnaround in the last hours of voting, consolidating the state’s hegemony in the “beauty contest” of police cars.

In all, 360,433 votes were counted across the country. For much of the voting period, Michigan led the popular preference with its iconic blue and white cars and seemed on course to end the rival’s winning streak. In the final hours, however, a significant mobilization of the Florida Highway Patrol communications team ensured the turnaround.
With the classic look in black and beige, the American brand’s sports car finished with 52,249 votes, leaving Michigan in second place, with 37,654. Georgia completed the podium, with 34,933 votes, followed by Ohio (17,212) and Kentucky (16,541) to close the top five positions.

The victory is not just symbolic: the winning car will be on the cover of the official AAST calendar for 2027, the “America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers Wall Calendar”. The contest, which takes place annually, goes beyond aesthetics. All proceeds from the sale of the calendars are destined to the foundation of the association, which offers scholarships for dependents of the associated patrol officers. At each edition, dozens of state corporations register their fleets, turning the dispute into a showcase of both each state’s taste for automotive design and the regional pride of its police.

The joke between the states is taken seriously by the organization. After the closure, AAST did not miss the chance to provoke the dispute and even said that “it must be hunting season in Florida, because they managed to shoot down the Blue Goose”, in reference to the iconic blue vehicles of the Michigan State Police. The entity also amended jokes with “punched ballots” and “late-night counts”, in humorous references to the electoral controversies that marked Florida in the past. Everything, according to the association, within the spirit of friendly rivalry that sustains the contest.
At the opposite end of the table, Oregon came in last place, with only 185 votes, a colossal difference from the tens of thousands recorded by the leaders. As long as Florida continues to dominate the top of the ranking, as it has done for the past four years, many are already joking that it may be the case to include the state’s name in the title of the calendar itself.
