Chinese automaker still grew 137% in the first quarter and consolidated 12th position in the overall ranking; Haval H6 maintains leadership among hybrids
GWM ended the month of March with a historic milestone for its operations in Brazil. In addition to recording its best monthly sales performance since its debut in the country in 2023, the Chinese automaker saw the Haval H9 utility take the lead in the large SUV segment, displacing the traditional Toyota SW4.
In total, there were 6,598 vehicles registered in March, consolidating a first quarter with 15,903 units. The volume represents an increase of 137.7% compared to the same period of the previous year — a significant growth compared to the moderate expansion of 15.1% recorded by the national automotive market as a whole.
With these results, GWM reached the 12th position in the overall ranking of automakers, surpassing consolidated brands and reinforcing its expansion strategy. The highlight of the month, the Haval H9, totaled 1,170 registrations, surpassing the 1,061 units of Toyota’s rival.

The diversification of the portfolio also boosted the company’s numbers. In the premium SUV niche, the GWM Tank 300 secured the third position in its category, while the GWM Wey 07 entered the group of the five best-selling models. In the field of electrified, the Haval H6 maintained absolute dominance among hybrids, with 3,317 units sold in the month.
Even the pickup segment, traditionally resistant to new entrants, registered advances for the brand: the GWM Poer P30 became part of the top-5 of the category. The performance consolidates the manufacturer, alongside BYD, as a protagonist of the energy transition in the Brazilian market, occupying spaces previously restricted to veteran automakers.
