The Cupra Born has undergone an update that includes design changes, interior revisions and adjustments to engine options, with increased autonomy in some versions. The new look brings the electric hatchback closer to the language adopted in other recent models of the brand, such as the Cupra Leon, the Cupra Formentor and the Cupra Tavascan.

Changes include polygonal headlights, a new front bumper and a light bar at the rear. The model also now offers 19 and 20-inch alloy wheels with 235 mm wide tires, replacing the previous 215 mm tires.

Inside, the steering wheel now has physical buttons in place of tactile controls. The digital instrument panel has been expanded from 5.3 to 10.25 inches, while the 12.9-inch multimedia center remains. The finish has also been revised, with suede-covered door panels and soft plastic surfaces on the front doors. Rear passengers now have an air outlet in the center console.

Another novelty is the possibility of using a digital key through an application on the smartphone to access the vehicle.

In terms of engine, the entry-level version maintains the 58 kWh battery, but the rear motor had its power reduced from 201 hp to 187 hp. On the other hand, the estimated range has increased from 425 km to 450 km in the WLTP cycle, while the maximum charging power has risen from 120 kW to 135 kW.

The version with a 79 kWh battery maintains the 228 hp engine, but the range has been extended from 557 km to 600 km. The maximum charging power has also increased, reaching 185 kW. The versions with a 79 kWh battery now have a single-pedal driving mode and launch control function.

The top-of-the-line variant, the Cupra Born VZ, uses the same 79 kWh battery, with similar autonomy and charging capacity as the long-range version, but with a 322 hp engine.

The price of the updated model has not yet been confirmed. Currently, the Born starts at 35,690 pounds, reaching 36,995 pounds in the long-range version and 44,820 pounds in the VZ version, in the British market. Something in the range of R$ 260 thousand to R$ 315 thousand, in a direct conversion.

With the update, almost the entire Cupra lineup now adopts the brand’s new design language, with the exception of the Cupra Ateca. The manufacturer is also preparing the launch of the Cupra Raval, an electric model that should rival the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric.
