Chevrolet’s Dolphin Mini is on the way and should not exceed R$ 120 thousand

Chevrolet is preparing a new compact electric car for the Brazilian market. Based on the Wuling Bingo Pro, the model is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2027, possibly in March, and will have as its main rivals the BYD Dolphin Mini and the Geely EX2. The expectation is that the price will be in the range of R$ 120 thousand.

The model will be another result of Chevrolet’s partnership with China’s SAIC and can be produced at the Ceará Automotive Complex, in Horizonte, where other electric vehicles of the brand are already assembled. Chevrolet confirmed in June that the plant would receive a third model, but has not yet officially detailed what the vehicle would be.

The name of the model is not defined, but one of the possibilities is to rescue the name “Celta”, in honor of the popular hatch. If the choice is confirmed, the Chinese model Bingo Pro would arrive in the country with its own identity for the Brazilian market.

The novelty will be important for Chevrolet to expand its share among entry-level electric vehicles. Currently, the Spark EUV occupies this space in the range, but still has modest volumes. In July, 330 units were licensed, a number less than a third of the sales of the GAC Aion UT and equivalent to just over 5% of the licenses of the Geely EX2.

Wuling Bingo Pro has intermediate dimensions between the BYD Dolphin Mini and the Geely EX2. It is 4.05 meters long, 1.76 m wide, 1.58 m high and 2.56 m wheelbase. The trunk holds 380 liters, while an additional compartment at the front adds another 30 liters. Inside, the Bingo Pro has two screens that support an 8.8-inch instrument panel and a 12.8-inch multimedia center.

In mechanics, the front electric motor develops 88 hp and can be combined with 32 kWh or 38 kWh batteries. In the Chinese NEDC homologation cycle, the range varies from 330 km to 403 km, depending on the configuration.

Fast recharging allows you to recover from 30% to 80% of the charge in about 15 minutes. The model also offers the V2L function, which allows you to use the energy stored in the battery to power electrical equipment, with a power of up to 3.3 kW.

In China, the model is sold for prices between 58.5 thousand and 72.8 thousand yuan (approximately R$ 43 thousand and R$ 53 thousand), and in Brazil the expectation is that the model will be positioned close to R$ 120 thousand.
