BYD detailed this week its novelty for the Brazilian market, with the update of the Song Plus with a turbo engine and the launch of the unprecedented Atto 8. The move reinforces the brand’s expansion strategy in the country, betting on the renewal of its best-selling car and the introduction of a seven-seater model to occupy the top of the SUV lineup.

The BYD Song Plus 2027 presents a significant mechanical evolution by replacing the old aspirated 1.5-liter engine with a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 130 hp. In this way, the brand mitigates one of the weaknesses of the model so far: performance in purely combustion mode, common on roads.

Working in conjunction with the 204 hp electric motor, the SUV now delivers a combined power of 239 hp. The new 26.6 kWh battery raised the range in purely electric mode to 99 km (Inmetro standard), a jump of 57% compared to the previous model. Even with the improvements, BYD chose to keep the list price at R$ 249.990.

With a length of 5.04 meters and a wheelbase of 2.95 meters, the SUV focuses on family comfort without sacrificing performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds thanks to its 488 hp of total power.

The Atto 8 brings unusual convenience items in the category, such as a mini-fridge on board and nine airbags. Active safety is managed by a system of 12 cameras and 18 radars, allowing autonomous parking and collision avoidance.

With an electric range of 152 km (NEDC cycle), the new top of the line arrives to compete for space with European premium models, consolidating BYD as one of the fastest growing brands in the national electrified market.
