The city of Belo Horizonte (MG) activated 22 new radars in the capital of Minas Gerais. The new equipment is only to monitor the advance of traffic lights on important avenues.

According to the newspaper O Tempo , this measure was taken last Thursday (30/4), without publication on official pages of the city hall. The equipment is part of the 173 radars that were activated in Belo Horizonte during 2026. See where the new ones are:

The city hall justified that the locations were chosen through technical studies, which identify the areas with the highest risk of traffic accidents and strategic points to improve circulation conditions. She also pointed out that running a red light is one of the most important factors in serious accidents and run-overs.
