A Honda NSX that belonged to Ayrton Senna will go up for auction on October 31 at RM Sotheby’s auction house. The 1991 example can be sold for between US$ 700 thousand and US$ 1.1 million (approximately R$ 3.6 million and R$ 5.1 million), a higher price than any other NSX at the time.
While driving for McLaren, Ayrton Senna, together with Honda, was one of the developers of the original NSX. Due to his participation, the driver won three copies of NXS, one of them being the red car, chassis number T000233, which was in Lisbon, Portugal, and was used by him every time he was there.

The car became famous when Senna was photographed driving the car at the 1991 Portuguese Grand Prix, where he finished in second place. In addition to that moment, the red NXS made a cameo appearance in the documentary “Ayrton Senna: Racing Is In My Blood”, where he appears washing it with a hose.
After Ayrton’s death in 1994, the vehicle was registered by a private company in Portugal before being returned to Honda in 1997. Soon after arriving in Japan, the car was sold to a businessman where it remained in his custody until 2013, when Robert McFagan bought it and imported it to the United Kingdom. In 2024, it went up for auction, and was bought by a resident of Nagoya, Japan. Now the NXS returns to the United Kingdom to be prepared for another auction.
Under the hood, the model maintains the naturally aspirated 3.0 V6 engine with 271 hp and 283 Nm of original factory torque, with rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission. The project revolutionized the market by proving that Japanese engineering could face European super sports cars on an equal footing.
