Developed in partnership with SAIC, the new SUV uses 900V architecture and CATL batteries; physical premiere will be at the Beijing Motor Show
Audi this week made official the launch of the E7X electric SUV in China. The model is the second product of the homonymous sub-brand (written in capital letters and without the traditional four rings), developed in a strategic partnership with the Chinese giant SAIC Motor. Launched in 2024, the initiative aims to consolidate the German manufacturer’s presence in the competitive premium electric vehicle segment of the world’s largest automotive market.
The E7X succeeds the E5 Sportback and derives directly from the concept presented last year. With generous dimensions — 5.05 m long and a wheelbase of 3.06 m — the SUV focuses on interior comfort for five occupants and a visual identity marked by DLP digital headlights and illuminated logos. Such elements reinforce the technological appeal required by the local public, differentiating the line aimed at China from the brand’s global models.

In the field of performance, the SUV impresses with its numbers. Equipped with 109 kWh CATL-supplied batteries, the E7X uses a 900 V electrical architecture, which significantly optimizes recharge time. In the top version, with all-wheel drive and about 670 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 3.97 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 230 km/h. The estimated range in the Chinese cycle reaches 751 km.
Safety and driver assistance are ensured by a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and Momenta’s intelligent driving system, enabling advanced automation on both highways and complex urban stretches. The chassis, predominantly composed of aluminum, seeks to reduce weight and increase energy efficiency. The official debut of the Audi E7X is scheduled for the Beijing Motor Show in April, where the brand intends to detail prices and delivery times.
