Ford hires Renault to develop electric vehicles
Ford joins France's Renault to accelerate its development of electric models and be able to compete evenly in the market

Jim Farley, Ford’s global president, was impressed by the technological superiority of Chinese electric cars over those produced by his company in the United States. But as the relationship between China and the United States is not at all friendly, he turned to a company from another country in this endeavor.

For more than 15 years, the automaker has been developing electric cars at its Ampère plant in northern France, with technology comparable to that of China. All the design and mechanics of these cars will be developed by Ford in Detroit, but in the electrical part it will beat a French heart.
