These vehicles do not have the complications of a combustion engine, so periodic maintenance is much simpler and spaced out
One of the main selling points for electric cars is the lower cost per kilometer driven. In addition to electricity being cheaper than gasoline, they are also cheaper when it comes to overhaul.
The reason for this is the simplicity of an electric motor, which has only one moving part. While the overhaul of a combustion car may require changing several fluids, filters and making adjustments to the engine, those of an electric car have more checks than component changes.

We consulted the revision manuals of the most popular electric cars in Brazil to see what is done in each revision. Some follow the same interval between combustion car services, every 10 thousand km or a year, but others already space it out.

BYD has a maintenance manual that serves the entire line of electric cars, from the Dolphin Mini to the big Tan. The spacing between revisions is 20 thousand km or one year, whichever comes first.
Every 20 thousand km or a year, it is necessary to do only two services: change the cabin filter and the tire rotation. Every two years or 40 thousand km it is necessary to change the brake fluid, the transmission oil and the first change of the battery coolant.
Every four years or 100 thousand km, the owner of an electric BYD needs to change the engine coolant. The battery needs to be replaced every two years or 140 thousand km after the first change at 40 thousand km.
The maintenance plan has several checks and retightening of screws. Some items whose wear depends on driving can be changed in them, such as brake pads and shock absorbers.
BYD’s electric car revisions have fixed prices. The brand offered them free of charge to the first buyers, this benefit usually comes back in promotions.

GWM has created a well-spaced maintenance plan for the Ora 03. The electric hatch needs revisions every two years or 24 thousand km, the most spaced out in this matter.
The Ora 03 maintenance plan is simpler as well. In all revisions, the brake fluid and cabin filter are changed, along with the tire rotation. And every four years or 48 thousand km, engine and air conditioning coolants are changed.
Geely’s electric car review plan is similar to BYD’s when it comes to the periodicity between services. It stipulated a period of one year or 20 thousand km between preventive maintenance.
But the only service done in all revisions is the replacement of the cabin filter. Brake fluid is changed every four years or 40 thousand km.
The most spaced maintenance is the changes of the coolant and transmission lubricant. They must be done every four years or 90 thousand km. The table also points to an air conditioning tightness inspection every 140 thousand km.

Chevrolet has adopted the same periodicity for the Spark EUV between the revisions it practices in its combustion cars: 10 km or one year. And at all stops at the dealership, it will be necessary to change the cabin filter.
The brake fluid and transmission require replacement every 20 thousand km or two years, but were positioned alternately in the service plan. The coolant needs to be changed for the first time in the second service and after that only after 240 thousand km or five years.
Chevrolet says that 480 of its 600 dealerships are able to sell and maintain their electric cars. The Captiva EV has a similar maintenance plan.
