The basis of the new car market in Brazil continues to be the popular ones with a 1.0 engine, which continues to focus on direct sales
The market for entry-level cars is no longer the same, today it is practically dominated by direct sales. However, the evolutions in our legislation have made the cheapest cars in Brazil a little safer, more efficient and better equipped.
The gateway to having a brand new car is R$ 78.690 if we take into account only the list prices. In this segment it is common to find practically fixed offers or promotional prices, with some models for less than R$ 70 thousand.

Our list of the cheapest cars in Brazil will only take into account the list values, as promotions can be regional or temporary. See how the entry-level cars are in 2026:

In 2026, the title of cheapest car in Brazil is with the Renault Kwid Zen. Its advantage over the Fiat Mobi grew, before the price dispute was more even.
The 2026 line of the compact received some minor improvements, such as an additional pair of speakers on the C-pillar and a USB-C input for charging on the dashboard. But the entry-level Zen model has lost the radio that came standard, it is only predisposed to sound.
The equipment package of this version includes four airbags, air conditioning, electric steering, LED daytime running lights, on-board computer, tachometer, rear wiper and defroster, electric locks and electric windows at the front. The only options are the painting options, those who want a radio or multimedia center will have to go to the dealership’s accessories counter.

The Fiat Mobi retired the 1.0 Fire engine for good in 2025 and now has the 1.0 Firefly three-cylinder across the line. This means that the steering became electric and the car became much smarter. Along came the dashboard of the Strada pickup, with more storage compartments.
This most modern three-cylinder engine is made of aluminum, has the highest torque among the 1.0 and the synchronization is done by metal chain. In addition to the gains in performance, the Mobi became more economical.
Fiat’s cheapest car in Brazil has electric steering, air conditioning, dual airbags, on-board computer, rear wiper and defroster, tachometer, front electric windows with one-touch function and electric locks.
It does not have a predisposition for radio and the only option is a package with electric mirrors and tilt-down function, internal control for opening the tank and trunk, height adjustment of the front belts and expanded lining in the trunk.

If you count the promotional prices, the Citroën C3 can be up to R$ 8 thousand cheaper. Regardless, it is the most affordable compact car in Brazil, for those who want more interior space than that offered by Kwid and Mobi.
The new Citroën C3 even stands out in this matter, with one of the best accommodations in the rear seat within the segment. But to have this low price it needs to be simple, the Live version has a lean list of standard items.
It features electric steering, electric windows at the front, dual airbags, front seats with integrated headrest, air conditioning, on-board computer, gear shift indicator (it does not have a tachometer), rear wiper and defroster and trunk light.

The 2026 Fiat Argo line brought some improvements to the compact, but few came to the entry-level model that doesn’t even have a name. It received only the headlights with LED position light.
This compact is among the best sellers in Brazil and follows Fiat’s reputation for offering robust cars. Its 1.0 Firefly engine is economical and has performance on par with rivals.
This cheaper version of the Fiat Argo features electric steering, air conditioning, dual airbags, switchblade key with remote control, on-board computer, rear wiper and defroster, steering column height adjustment, electric locks and front electric windows.

With the Hyundai HB20, the consumer reaches a more sophisticated level among the cheapest cars in Brazil. It is not as spacious as the Citroën C3, but it has a more neat and equipped interior.
The package of standard items includes air conditioning, multimedia center, connected services, electric steering, front electric windows, switchblade key with remote control, six airbags, cruise control, twilight sensor, alarm, driver’s seat with height adjustment, on-board computer, tachometer, automatic door locking at 20 km/h and body-colored mirrors.
Despite this good package, it slips because it does not offer steering column adjustment in this version. Externally, the only clue that it is an entry-level model is in the steel wheels with hubcaps and the simplest headlights.

The Volkswagen Polo is the best-selling car in Brazil thanks to the entry-level Track model. This simpler version cemented the compact as the legitimate successor to the Gol.
The Polo Track arrived in 2023 with several simplifications, such as the simple parabola headlights, the bumper without details, the wheels held by four bolts and the stripped interior.
In the list of equipment, the Polo Track is closer to the top of the table than the rival HB20: 4 airbags, air conditioning, driver’s seat with electric adjustment, steering column with height and depth adjustment, radio, front electric windows, electric locks and on-board computer.
There is the Polo Robust, focused on companies, for the same price, which is even simpler. It loses the radio, multifunction steering wheel and trunk cap, but adds vinyl flooring and raised suspension.

The Chevrolet Onix is the first car on the list to surpass the R$ 100 barrier The compact was updated in 2025 with a new front end and redesigned dashboard, with the summer 1.0 MT incorporating the items that were from the late 1.0 LT.
It is the only 1.0 with a six-speed gearbox, which makes a good pair with the economical 1.0 three-cylinder. Its performance surpasses rivals, with acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 12.9 seconds.
The cheapest Onix has six airbags, air conditioning, multimedia center, twilight sensor, body-colored door handles and mirrors, steering column with height and depth adjustment, driver’s seat with height adjustment, on-board computer, speed limiter, multifunction steering wheel, face-to-face key, electric windows on all four doors with one-touch function, split rear seat, Onboard Wi-Fi and connected services. Interestingly, the only free paint on it is the boreal blue metallic.

Despite being classified as an SUV, the Citroën Basalt can be considered almost like a C3 sedan. Its 490-liter trunk is the main selling point.
The Feel version is the only one with a 1.0-liter aspirated engine, Fiat’s well-known Firefly. It already features alloy wheels, a digital dashboard with tachometer, six speakers, four airbags, alarm, driver’s seat with height adjustment, multimedia center, electric windows on all four doors with one-touch, height adjustment on the steering wheel, panel with fabric covering, reverse sensor, reversing camera and LED DRL.
As it has a large clearance, the Citroën Basalt faces speed bumps, ditches and poorly paved roads than hatches and sedans. In the 2026 line, it gained finishing improvements such as the fabric upholstery on the dashboard and the rear electric window buttons on the doors, but it still has a simple environment.

Volkswagen launched the Tera with a 1.0 engine and a price of R$ 99.990, Fiat counterattacked by pricing the Pulse Drive 1.3 MT below this value. Today the Tera has already risen to R$ 108.390, while the Italian brand has made a smaller adjustment in its entry-level SUV.
The Fiat Pulse Drive is the only car on the list without a 1.0-liter aspirated engine, it uses the 1.3 Firefly with 107 hp. As it is from the entry-level SUV segment, it has a more neat interior than its Argo brother and more equipment, but the interior space does not change.
This version has automatic air conditioning, multimedia center, on-board computer, LED headlights, electric mirror adjustment, center console with armrest and storage compartment, four airbags, electric windows on all four doors with one-touch, cruise control and electronic TC+ differential lock.

The cheapest sedan in Brazil is the Hyundai HB20S, with a wide advantage in price over the Chevrolet Onix Plus and the Fiat Cronos. The Comfort 1.0 version of it is similar to the hatch, but adds steering wheel height and depth adjustment, electric windows on all four doors and a reversing camera.
The HB20S, like the Fiat Cronos, is still part of the old school of compact sedans. Its measurements are smaller than those of the Onix Plus and Virtus, harming the interior space. This can be positive for those who have a tighter garage.
