The German brand's medium SUV arrives at dealerships on January 22 with prices starting at R$ 199.990 and news in design and technology
Volkswagen officially starts sales of the 2026 Taos line on January 22nd. The medium SUV, produced in Argentina, arrives at dealerships with the aim of regaining ground against rivals such as Jeep Compass and Toyota Corolla Cross, betting on a mechanical update, design touches and an expanded technological package. Prices start at R$ 199.990 in the Comfortline version and reach R$ 209.990 in the top-of-the-line Highline.
The launch will take place simultaneously across the brand’s network during the “Open Doors” event. The main technical novelty of the model lies in the transmission: the 250 TSI engine (1.4 turbo with 150 hp and 25,5 kgfm) starts to work associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the six-speed gearbox previously used, aiming at greater energy efficiency and driving comfort.

Responding to long-standing criticism of the finish, Volkswagen redesigned the dashboard and applied new coatings, including soft touch materials and ambient lighting with ten color options. Connectivity was reinforced by the 10.1-inch VW Play Connect system and the “My VW 2.0” platform, which allows remote monitoring of the vehicle via smartphone.
Externally, the Taos 2026 becomes the first car manufactured in the region to adopt the illuminated rear logo, connected by an LED strip that joins the taillights. At the front, the IQ. Light gained a new visual signature in “X”.

In terms of safety, the model maintained the maximum score (five stars) in Latin NCAP tests, already under the strictest protocol. The standard package includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), fatigue detector and adaptive cruise control (ACC).
The SUV preserves the 498-liter trunk — one of the largest in the category. The Comfortline version leaves the factory with 18-inch wheels, while the Highline adopts 19-inch rims. The color palette received the additions of Pacific Blue and Glacial Gray, adding to traditional options such as Pure White and Mystic Black.
