The Italian brand's pickup stands out for its design, is sovereign in its category and has good options in the used market
Fiat Toro has become a reference in the intermediate pickup category. The segment has this name precisely because it brings the size that is in the middle ground between pickup trucks and medium trucks. And in this market, the Italian brand’s model has no strokes.
Launched in 2016, Fiat Toro has always been the isolated sales leader. Therefore, it has a varied offer in the used and used vehicle market. It turns out to be a good option for pickup trucks who want a larger model than compacts and not as exaggerated as medium ones.

The first indications of what would become the Fiat Toro appeared with the FCC4 coupe concept, shown at the São Paulo Motor Show in 2014. The fact is that when the pickup was launched in February 2016, it kept several elements of the project from which it was derived.
Fiat Toro debuted with 1.8 flex and 2.0 turbodiesel engines, the latter with 4×4 traction. Also in 2016, the medium-compact pickup introduced the Tigershark 2.4 engine, which remained in the line until 2022.
In May 2021, already as a 2022 line, the Fiat Toro underwent a slight restyling and gained new equipment. The most significant change, however, was the replacement of the 1.8 E.torQ engine with the new 1.3 turbo flex T270, which had its power reduced in 2025.
Just last year, the Fiat Toro line changed the turbodiesel engine. The 2.2 with 200 hp entered the scene. And in the 2026 lineup, the intermediate pickup has undergone a new design update, and has four-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake.

Since its launch, Fiat Toro has been the absolute queen of sales in the intermediate pickup segment. The pickup maintains annual averages above 50 thousand registrations, but had a peak of licensing in 2019 and 2021.
With this, the line already has more than 600 thousand units made at the Stellantis Automotive Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco. Check out Fiat Toro’s sales year by year since its launch, according to data from Renavam:
At the launch, Fiat made a point of saying that Toro was inaugurating a new segment, a so-called SUP – Sport-Utility Pick-up. Exaggerations aside, the truth is that it was neither the pioneer nor the founder in this category of intermediate pickups.
Who arrived first was Renault, which launched the Oroch in September 2015 – derived from the Duster, with the same proposal of being that middle ground between passenger car and work vehicle. But Toro, without a doubt, is the one who rules the piece.

Fiat Toro’s life will get more complicated in the coming years. It’s okay that to date there have been occasional attempts to face the Italian brand’s pickup head-on. In 2023 General Motors launched the Chevrolet Montana, however it failed to pack in sales.
The recent Ford Maverick (imported) and Ram Rampage (the latter the result of the same platform as Toro) have more expensive positions within the segment, although the latter has interesting sales for its price range.
But the 2026/27 biennium promises the arrival of thick-skinned skins in the medium-compact market. Volkswagen, for example, should finally launch its model originating from the Tarok concept shown at the 2018 Motor Show.
At the same time, Renault is preparing the pickup derived from the Niagara, made on the same platform as the Boreal medium SUV in Argentina. From the neighboring country will also come Toyota’s representative for the category, trying to take advantage of all the fame and strength that the Japanese brand has in the pickup truck market.
We will soon indicate a good vintage of Fiat Toro, year 2024, in the Volcano 1.3 version and with an Average Dealer Price by KBB Brasil of R$ 145.894 (calculated in January 2026). Still within the three-year warranty and with “original” power – we will explain below -, the configuration is one of the most equipped in the range.

In safety, there are six airbags, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, ramp start assistant, electrochromic rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring, emergency assistance call service and LED headlights.
With a good search, it is possible to find copies of the Fiat Tora Volcano 1.3 with the items in the ADAS package, which are optional. Among them, forward collision alert, emergency braking, lane keeping assistant and automatic high beams.
Dual zone automatic air, electrically folding mirrors, induction cell phone charger, electric driver’s seat adjustment, presence key, twilight and rain sensors, leather upholstery, steering wheel height and depth adjustments, cruise control and remote engine activation are also among the standard items.

The multimedia center uses a 10″ screen and allows wireless connection with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as Bluetooth, native GPS, USB socket and wi-fi on board. It also has an instrument panel with a 7″ electronic display.
The Fiat Toro with a turbo flex engine is much cooler than with the hard-drinking and rough aspirated 1.8 E.torQ from the first era of the pickup. The engine in question is the 1.3 T270 of the GSE family, which debuted in 2021, on the back of the restyling of the line with 185 hp with ethanol and 180 hp with gasoline.
This gave another boost to the flex versions of the Toro. Throttle responses became more immediate and, even with the still faltering six-speed automatic transmission, the pickup manages to get out of inertia and touch the speedometer at 100 km/h in 10,5 seconds.

It is good to remember that the resumptions are also benefited. That’s because the 27,5 kgfm already appear at 1.750 rpm. Yes, the gearbox takes a while to understand the best gear for the rev range in which it is acting, apart from turbo lag. However, after a slight delay, the engine fills up quickly.
Consumption that discourages. With ethanol, the averages are 6.6 km/l in the city and 7.9 km/l on the highway. With gasoline, respectively 9.2 km/l and 11,0 km/l.
It is worth remembering that from 2025 the Fiat Toro 1.3 had its power reduced to 180 hp with ethanol and 176 hp with gasoline. Torque was maintained.
One of the highlights of the Toro is that it has passenger car behavior most of the time. Much thanks to the good rigidity of the body and the multi-link rear suspension, which make the pickup stable even with an empty bed.
The space for the front passengers is interesting. Driver enjoys that high position that is expected from a pickup, but access is difficult, due to the very high floor. The rear seat is much more cramped and more recommended for two adults.

Back to the suspension, it filters out track imperfections well, with or without a load in the bed. The finish improved in the restyling, with more use of rubberized materials and correct closures. The sound insulation works well up to 100 km/h on the highway.
If we are to consider the Fiat Toro Volcano 1.3 you can already plan that trip to the farthest place. The pickup does not have the 4×4 traction system of the diesel options, but it uses good capabilities for light off-roading, starting with the 26 cm ground clearance.
The angle of attack is 25.7 degrees and the departure angle is 28.4 degrees. For those who need to carry junk or work with cargo handling, the bucket has a volume of 937 liters and the pickup can hold up to 670 kg.
The Fiat Toro 2024 is still within the factory warranty and the Italian brand offers a fixed-price service plan every 10 km or a year. See prices.
One of the most common problems reported in the case of the Fiat Toro with the 1.3 T270 engine is high oil consumption. There are several occurrences in forums and on the Reclame Aqui website of lubricant levels dropping beyond normal, even for a vehicle with a turbocharged set.
Failures and locking of the multimedia center are also common since the early years of the pickup. The onboard electronics of the most complete versions even deserve attention.
