The segment that most sold new cars in 2025 has new options at the base of the pyramid, we list them all below R$ 120 thousand
In 2025, the SUV segment accounted for 54.89% of new cars registered in Brazil. There were 1,095,642 units sold, the first time that the category exceeds 1 million cars. And part of the success comes from the cheapest models in the segment.
In the first half of 2025, Volkswagen launched the Tera, which closed the year with a large volume of sales. Fiat updated the Pulse and changed prices to respond.

We also had some launches and updates among the cheapest SUVs, such as the Nissan Kicks Play becoming the Kait, the face-lift of the VW Nivus Sense, the Citroën Basalt gaining an improved finish and the Chevrolet Tracker being updated.
We have updated the list of the cheapest SUVs in Brazil already with these news. We do not use Inmetro as a reference because it places some hatches in this category, such as the Citroën C3, the Fiat Argo Trekking and the Renault Kwid, and the Chevrolet Spin minivan. We also do not consider promotional prices, as the conditions may vary depending on the location or depending on benefits or the one used in the exchange.

After a readjustment in the prices of the Citroën Basalt, the Fiat Pulse Drive MT took the position of the cheapest SUV in Brazil. It is the only one below R$ 110 thousand to come with a stronger engine than a 1.0.
The 1.3 8v from the Firefly family has good torque at low revs, has a reputation for being robust and has low fuel consumption. In this entry-level version, it works together with the five-speed manual transmission.
This version has automatic air conditioning, multimedia center, on-board computer, LED headlights, electric mirror adjustment, center console with armrest and storage compartment, four airbags, electric windows on all four doors with one-touch, cruise control and electronic TC+ differential lock. The only option package adds alloy wheels, a reversing camera and a rear parking sensor.

The Citroën Basalt is the second cheapest SUV in Brazil and also has the second largest trunk on this list: 490 liters. It is also among the most spacious, being able to carry two tall adults in the back seat without tightening.
To have all this space, the consumer will have to give up some conveniences. The engine is a 1.0 aspirated 75 hp, the weakest on the list, and the equipment package is simpler.
The Feel model already features alloy wheels, a digital panel with tachometer, six speakers, four airbags, alarm, driver’s seat with height adjustment, multimedia center, electric windows on all four doors with one-touch, height adjustment on the steering wheel, panel with fabric covering, reverse sensor, reversing camera and LED DRL.

The Volkswagen Tera debuted with a promotional price of 99,990, but this lasted less than a month. It arrived in 2026 with some readjustments and today it is the third cheapest SUV in Brazil.
According to Inmetro, this 1.0 version is classified as a hatchback due to the smaller clearance, caused by the set of wheels and tires with a smaller diameter. In a way, it became the successor to the late Polo MPI as a more equipped urban car option within Volkswagen.
The entry-level Tera comes standard with six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, VW Play multimedia center with 10.1″ screen and connected services, air conditioning, electric windows on all four doors, multifunctional steering wheel, electrically adjustable mirrors and tilt-down function, full-LED headlights, digital panel, cruise control and rear parking sensors.

The Renault Kardian is the cheapest turbocharged SUV in Brazil, with a big advantage over the supercharged versions of the VW Tera and Citroën Basalt. In the Evolution MT model it has a six-speed manual transmission, with good engagements.
This combination of the manual gearbox with a 1.0 turbo engine that is among the strongest in the segment make the entry-level Kardian a fun car. Its suspension setup has a good dose of firmness to compensate for the 20.9 cm clearance without impairing comfort.
The Renault Kardian Evolution MT features a digital panel, multimedia center with wireless mirroring, automatic air conditioning, full-LED headlights, reverse sensor, functional bars on the roof, split rear seat, cruise control, steering wheel height and depth adjustment and satellite controls for sound.

The Nissan Kait Active is the cheapest automatic SUV on this list, but the overall position is with the Fiat Pulse Drive AT, which costs R$ 114.990. On the other hand, the Japanese model is larger and more spacious, being a more suitable option for family use.
The Kait is an update of the Kicks Play, with changes to the body ends, and some parts of the interior. The reliable 1.6 16v engine was maintained. As it was born in a higher segment, the finish and size stand out in this price range.
The entry-level Active version has 17″ alloy wheels, full-LED headlights, presence key, air conditioning, split rear seat, six airbags, reversing camera, cruise control, reverse sensor, multimedia center and on-board computer

The Jeep Renegade is the car most cited by readers in car evaluations up to R$ 120 thousand. The entry-level Sport version is priced at R$ 118.290 and offers many attributes for this price range: 1.3 turbo engine, independent rear suspension, soft touch panel and more refined construction.
To get this price, Jeep cut some equipment, such as the multimedia center, the trunk lid, the crankcase protector, the integral spare tire, the roof bars, the speakers and the ADAS package. All these items are in the two optional packages, which raise the value to R$ 130.990.
Without these extras, Jeep’s cheapest SUV comes standard: air conditioning, steering wheel with height and depth adjustment, switchblade key with remote control, six airbags, full-LED headlights, four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, on-board computer, alloy wheels and Jeep Traction Control+ electronic traction lock.

The Chevrolet Tracker was renewed in 2025, but kept the entry-level anonymous version. With the update, it received LED headlights and the appearance became less spartan with the new hubcaps that simulate alloy wheels.
The 1.0 turbo engine gained direct injection before the face-lift, but had its power reduced to 115 hp to fit into the sustainable car program. My biggest asset is fuel economy.
The cheapest model of the SUV has air conditioning, face-to-face key, multimedia center with wireless mirroring, reverse sensor, on-board computer, connected services and six airbags. In this version all colors are free.
As the ceiling for the partial exemption of IPI and ICMS for PwD is currently R$ 120 thousand, several brands offer versions below this value. In the SUV segment we have four options with a fixed price of R$ 119.990. Therefore, we list them below in alphabetical order.

In the 2026 line, the Citroën Aircross lost the “C3” in the name. It also had the versions reduced, before there were three with five seats and three with seven. Now only the entry-level Feel has both options, the intermediate Feel Pack has left the scene and at the top of the range the XTR has entered.
Along with this change, the Aircross Feel gained a little more filling: color digital panel, Cosmo Blue option and paint, rear window activators on the respective doors and fabric upholstery on the dashboard. This version is the only one with the spare tire inside the trunk, a more practical solution, but it fails to have a split rear seat.
The package of standard items also includes dual airbags, air conditioning, alarm, switchblade key, multimedia center, LED DRL, digital panel and multifunction steering wheel.

The Fiat Fastback T200 is the only model with a 1.0 turbo engine in the coupe SUV without the 12-volt mild hybrid system. It is also the only one in the line without the ADAS package.
These are basically the cuts made by Fiat to reach this value of R$ 119.990. The Fiat Fastback is not among the most spacious for passengers, but for luggage it is one of the best.
As standard, the T200 version has four airbags, automatic air conditioning, multimedia center, on-board computer, full-LED headlights, cruise control, 17-inch wheels and TC+ electronic differential lock.

Before the face-lift, Volkswagen sold the Nivus Sense with alloy wheels and no radio, today the situation has been reversed. The VW Play multimedia center is standard and the wheels are steel with plastic hubcaps.
The compact SUV also gained longitudinal bars on the roof, to better compose the look. The engine is the 200 TSI, which works together with the six-speed Aisin gearbox.
The equipment package includes the digital panel with an 8-inch screen, air conditioning, leather-covered multifunction steering wheel, split rear seat, six airbags and cruise control.

Anyone who enters the Volkswagen dealership wanting an SUV up to R$ 120 will have three options with a very different profile. The T-Cross is the most family-friendly, with a spacious rear seat and conservative design.
Its trunk is smaller than that of the Nivus, but it can be expanded by adjusting the backrest of the rear seat. Under the hood is the 200 TSI, the same as the Nivus and stronger than the one used by the Tera.
Here the cuts are more visible than in the brother: door handles are unpainted, the grille has no chrome and the taillights are not interconnected by LED. However, it already has six airbags, a digital panel with an 8-inch screen, air conditioning, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, autonomous emergency braking and reverse sensor.
