Leaving children unsupervised near a car can be dangerous. On Tuesday (10) two 6-year-old twin brothers jumped from a moving car that fell into a ravine, fortunately they were not hurt. In 2025, a child made an exposed GAC in a shopping mall start and the car crashed into a wall.

This type of accident can be avoided with some basic precautions when leaving the car parked. You also have to be aware of what the kids are doing, but we’re going to focus on the cars here.

Car locked even at home

The security of the vehicle being in the garage, protected by a gate, cameras, electric fence and other care with the residence can motivate not to leave it locked. However, a car with the doors open can be accessed by children, who will get in to play and can cause an accident.

Even when you’re at home, leave your car locked and your key in a safe place. This care can even preserve the battery, as some systems work or are on standby when the vehicle is unlocked. If you have a face-to-face key, make sure they are not in range.

Don’t rely on the handbrake alone

A child playing inside the car can release the parking brake. To be sure, leave the car in gear too, even in flat places. If it is automatic, put it in the P position.

An additional precaution can be to shim one of the wheels if the vehicle is parked on a slope. In this way, the car will be immobilized in several different ways, reducing the risk of accidents if the little one touches something he shouldn’t.

Do not leave children unattended in the car

The car is a machine that weighs more than 1 ton and was made to move. A child cannot reach the commands and even if he could, he would not know what to do with them.

Therefore, we cannot leave them inside the vehicle, especially in the driver’s seat. Not to mention that they cannot be left alone in a parked car, in addition to being dangerous for her, it is a crime provided for in article 132 of the penal code.
