Model returns renewed with 2.2 diesel engine, dual-clutch transmission and technologies to challenge Toyota SW4 and its segment
Sales leader in the South Korean market last year, the Kia Sorento is officially back in Brazil. The automaker starts this week the pre-sale of the new generation of the seven-seater SUV, which arrives at a promotional price of R$ 399.990 for the first batch. The brand’s strategy is clear: to focus on the consumer who seeks the robustness of the diesel engine combined with the sophistication of a luxury family vehicle.
The new Sorento, which had already been demonstrated at the 2025 São Paulo Motor Show, will have its official public launch during the Rio Open ATP 500, between February 14 and 22, at the Brazilian Jockey Club. According to José Luiz Gandini, president of Kia Brazil, the return aims to meet a pent-up demand for diesel vehicles with capacity for seven occupants, a niche that many competitors have failed to prioritize.

Under the hood, the Sorento features the 2.2-liter Smartstream diesel engine. The engine delivers 194 hp and 45 kgfm of torque, coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) — a set that promises quick shifts and energy efficiency. All-wheel drive (AWD) automatically manages the distribution of force between the axles and offers specific terrain modes (snow, mud and sand), as well as driving options such as Sport and Eco.
Visually, the SUV adopts the global philosophy “Opposites United”: the front imposes presence with vertical headlights and the “Star Map” LED signature, while the 19-inch alloy wheels balance the side profile. With a wheelbase of 2.81 m, the model guarantees generous space. The trunk is versatile: it goes from 179 liters (7 seats) to 608 liters (5 seats), reaching almost 2,000 liters with the rows folded down.
Inside, the highlight is the panoramic curved panel that joins two 12.3-inch screens for instruments and multimedia. The equipment package includes two-zone digital air conditioning, wireless connectivity and premium finishing. Safety is enhanced by a high-strength steel frame, six airbags and an ADAS package complete with driving assistants and 360° cameras. The model also has a five-year warranty with no mileage limit.
