To find out how much the IPVA costs, it is necessary to perform a calculation, based on the market value of the vehicle, which takes into account the numbers in the Fipe table – Foundation Institute for Economic Research. In this way, just multiply this amount by the percentage established in the rates, which in Tocantins vary from 1% to 4%.

According to Sefaz, the following rates are applied to the calculation basis:

  • 3.5% – Passenger cars with power above 100 hp.
  • 2.5% – Passenger cars with power of up to 100 hp.
  • 3.5% – Motorcycles and similar with more than 180 cm³ of displacement.
  • 2.5% – Motorcycles and similar vehicles with a cylinder capacity of up to 180 cm³.
  • 1.25% – Trucks.

The tax can be paid in up to ten installments, but the installments cannot be less than R$ 250.00 for individuals and R$ 500.00 for legal entities. The State Traffic Department of Tocantins (Detran) highlighted that in case of installments, the due date of the slips will be on the last business day of the month of the installment.
