The legendary rock band AC/DC performed the first of its three concerts in Brazil. The opening of the show begins with a video where a car arrives at the stadium, culminating in the entrance of guitarist Angus Young playing If You Want Blood You’ve Got It.

To satisfy the curiosity of those who could not identify the AC/DC car at the opening of the show, the model is a 1971 Dodge Polara. But it is the North American model, which is a large sedan, unrelated to the national one that used the same name but was a compact.

The North American Dodge Polara was the brand’s entry-level large sedan, positioned below the Monaco. It was heavily used by police and held the record for the world’s fastest sedan in the specification made for the California Highway Patrol. It reached 241 km/h in an instrumented test.

Returning to AC/DC, the band’s second and current vocalist, Brian Johnson, has a great passion for cars. The Briton has a respectable collection and also participates in races.

One of the jewels in Brian Johnson’s collection is the Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Vanden Plas. This car was champion at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1928 and achieved second position in 1929.

The car was called by Ettore Bugatti “the fastest truck in the world”, due to the Bentley’s large size. Brian Johnson often drives his through the streets of Florida.

Another classic that was made to race at Le Mans present in the collection of the AC/DC frontman is the Lola T70 MK1 from 1965. It is the successor to the Lola MK6 GT, which was used as the basis for the Ford GT40.

Brian Johnson also races with some cars from his collection, mainly in classic competitions. This includes everything from old Mini Cooper races to modern endurance prototypes.

The habit of riding without ear protection almost ended the Brit’s career as a vocalist in 2016. He was away from the stage for a while after a diagnosis of hearing problems.

He returned to the stage in 2020 after undergoing treatments. For Brazilians, the next two shows will be the last opportunities to see AC/DC with Brian Johnson and Angus Young.
