Medium SUV bets on sporty looks and abundant technological package to stand out, but leaves electrification for the future
After launching Avatr’s luxury cars, Caoa Changan presents the Uni-T, which debuts with national production under the CKD regime. The medium SUV bets on a more traditional formula, with a 1.5 turbo combustion engine, to win over a wider audience.

Changan’s new assembly line at the Caoa plant is the result of an investment of R$ 5 billion. The already ready production and distribution structure of the national group will allow a less troubled debut for the brand in Brazil, when compared to other Chinese companies that came on their own.
Caoa Changan does not put Caoa Chery at risk; Each brand has different styles. The Uni-T has a sportier look and a stronger 1.5 turbo engine than the Tiggo 7, for example.
Speaking of looks, the Uni-T’s design deviates from the tired formulas used by many Chinese brands. The front has strong angles, and the headlights frame the grille. On the side, the fenders are more pronounced, and the roof trim is reminiscent of coupe SUVs. The rear does not use attached taillights; What draws attention is the divided spoiler.

The Caoa group has an engineering and validation team in Brazil, which prepared Uni-T for local tastes. The most significant change is in the engine: the 1.5 turbo already debuts as flex. The power is 180 hp, while the torque is 29,2 kgfm, regardless of fuel.
This set makes the SUV accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. Consumption has not yet been disclosed.
What can generate controversy with the public is the oil-bathed dual-clutch transmission. It is important to remember that both engine and gearbox are Changan’s own projects, unrelated to the sets used by Chery. The two brands only share the factory and the backstage of operations.
The suspension assembly adopts the traditional McPherson formula at the front and multilink at the rear. The arrangement was made by Brazilian engineering, with more firmness to remove the soft behavior present in some Chinese rivals.
The Caoa Changan Uni-T arrives in a single version, the Infinity. The equipment package is closed and has two-zone air conditioning, which can emit three different fragrances, digital panel with 12.3″ screen, 12.8″ multimedia center with wireless mirroring, sound system with 11 speakers, fixed panoramic roof, electrically adjustable front seats, heating and ventilation, services connected via app, 360° camera, induction charger and 20-inch wheels.
The safety package features six airbags, ADAS package, blind spot monitor, temporary spare tire and electronic parking brake.
The only options that the buyer needs to make are between the colors, which are metallic black, metallic gray, metallic blue and pearlescent white. The warranty of Caoa Changan Uni-T is 7 years.
