This type of sales measures the true taste of the Brazilian public, excluding registrations for companies
The year 2025 was one of growth for the Brazilian automotive industry, with 2,549,462 registrations. Of this amount, 53% was in retail, that is, for individuals.
When we take the data from direct sales, we have an idea of what the taste of the Brazilian consumer is really like. The best-selling car at retail in 2025 was the Hyundai Creta, the traditional leader in this modality.

The second place was one of its rivals, the Honda HR-V. The sales volume of the Japanese model was 48,420 units, maintaining the average of 50 thousand units per year that it has maintained since its launch in 2015 and which was only broken during the pandemic.
In third place was the Volkswagen Polo, which may lose this position to its brother Tera in 2026. Closing the top 5 are two Chevrolet cars, the Onix hatch and the Tracker SUV, both updated in mid-2025.
Who grew a lot, especially in December, was BYD Song. The Chinese brand has placed a large volume of its hybrid SUVs. But it is important to remember that this data from Fenabrave combines the Song Pro with the Song Plus, which are completely different models despite sharing the name.

This duo practically tied with the Volkswagen T-Cross, which is the leader among SUVs in direct sales. In eighth position is the best-selling Fiat in retail, the Fastback, which surpassed rival Nivus.
One car that was growing to be in the top 5 and failed to do so was the Toyota Corolla Cross, which is in 12th. The Japanese SUV was damaged by the tragedy that destroyed the brand’s engine factory, which forced a temporary suspension of its production.
The best-selling electric car was, once again, the BYD Dolphin Mini. It sold almost 10 thousand units more than in 2024. Another Chinese company with great growth was the GWM Haval H6, which sold 2.5 times more than the previous year.
The list of best-selling cars in retail already has the presence of a launch that arrived in November: the Honda WR-V. The compact SUV sold enough volume in two months to be in 44th position, demonstrating the potential to be one of the leaders in 2026.
