The measure benefits drivers who have not committed infractions in the last 12 months and is provided for in a provisional measure published on December 10, 2025
The Ministry of Transport announced this Friday (9) the first batch of automatically renewed national driver’s licenses (CNHs). The measure benefits drivers who have not committed infractions in the last 12 months and is provided for in a provisional measure published on December 10, 2025.
According to the government, the automatic renewal of CNH will be done completely digitally, through the National Traffic Secretariat (Senatran) system, without the need for face-to-face exams, travel to Detrans or payment of additional fees. The update will be available on the CNH do Brasil application.

The contemplated drivers will receive a message on their cell phone congratulating them for the feat, in addition to a “good driver” seal. The gratuity is valid for the digital version of the card. Those who want the physical version must request it from the DMV and pay for the service.
Registration with the National Positive Registry of Drivers (RNPC) is a requirement to participate in the program and can be done through the CNH application or through the Senatran Services Portal.
There are restrictions: drivers aged 70 and over are not eligible for the benefit. Drivers over 50 years old will be entitled only once. The measure also does not apply to those who have a reduced validity of the CNH by medical recommendation, in cases of progressive diseases or conditions that require health monitoring.
According to Minister Renan Filho, the initiative seeks to value responsible drivers and reduce bureaucracy. “The Brazilian State is telling the citizen: be a good driver so as not to pay fees or new exams,” he said.
