Brazilian GP gathers crowd, has race shortened by heat and marks the return of the category to the country after more than 20 years
MotoGP’s return to Brazil was marked by a busy weekend on the track at the Brazilian GP, held at the Ayrton Senna International Autodrome in Goiânia (GO). After more than two decades off the calendar, the stage brought together more than 140 thousand people and put the country back on the map of the main category of motorcycling.

On the track, the highlight was Marco Bezzecchi. The Italian won the main race and secured his fourth consecutive victory of the season, taking the lead in the championship. The triumph was accompanied by an Aprilia one-two, completed by Jorge Martin, reinforcing the team’s good momentum.
The race was reduced from 31 to 23 laps due to the high temperatures and the conditions of the track, which even opened a hole during qualifying – a point much criticized by the drivers who also complained about flying stones throughout the course. Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the podium, while Marc Marquez was also among the protagonists throughout the race.

Saturday had already been hectic. The sprint race, the first in MotoGP history on Brazilian soil, was won by Marquez after Di Giannantonio’s mistake in the final laps. The schedule was delayed by about 1h20 due to the hole in the main straight of the circuit.
Among the Brazilian highlights, Diogo Moreira scored again. After losing positions at the start of the main race, the driver recovered and finished in 13th place.
There are expectations of stages in 2027 and 2028, but the problems with the track raise questions about the stage. It is expected that everything will be resolved by the next race in the country.
