Robbery in Nebraska drew attention for its ironic timing, but ended with the arrest of two teenagers and the loss of thousands of dollars
Two teenagers were arrested in Lincoln, Nebraska, after breaking intoa medical cannabis store with a stolen car. The crime, classified as burglary followed by theft, occurred at dawn and caught the attention of the authorities for the precise time of the impact: the glass break alarm went off at exactly 4:20 am.

The target was the Grateful Green unit, located on 56th Street. The criminals used a white sedan to break down the security gate and shatter the glass door of the façade. The choice of time — 4:20 a.m. — is a clear reference to the code universally associated with marijuana consumption.
Despite the attempt to create a criminal pun, the action was short-lived. The monitoring system alerted the police immediately. The suspects fled the scene leaving a trail of destruction and items scattered around the store, but were located by the authorities on the same day, around 10:30 pm.
The detainees are two young people, aged 18 and 15. The vehicle used in the action had been stolen hours earlier. Both were charged with misappropriation of amounts in excess of US$ 5,000 (about R$ 28,500 at the current exchange rate), covering both the damage to the establishment and the theft of the car. The Grateful Green store said it will reinforce its physical barriers to prevent further vehicle attacks.
