Just two years after arriving in the Chinese market, the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan has received its first major update. In a strategy that mirrors the annual renewal cycle of tech giants such as Apple, the manufacturer has redesigned crucial details of the model’s safety, technology and efficiency. The public’s response was immediate: 15 thousand orders were registered in just eight hours after the official announcement.

The SU7 Upgrades

The sedan’s catalog preserves the three versions already known, but raises the technological level and competitiveness. The entry-level version (Standard), equipped with a 73 kWh battery and 315 hp motor, reaches 720 km of range for around US$ 31,900. The intermediate Pro jumps to an expressive 902 km of range, thanks to the 96.3 kWh LFP battery, costing in the range of US$ 36.200.

At the top of the line, the SU7 Max challenges super sports cars. With all-wheel drive, two motors that deliver a combined 681 hp and a 101.7 kWh ternary lithium battery, the model runs up to 835 km on a single charge. The price in China is equivalent to US$ 44.000 (about R$ 224.400 in direct conversion).

In addition to performance, reliability was the focus of the brand. Now, all variants come standard with a LiDAR sensor on the ceiling, a new 4D millimeter wave radar and the advanced Nvidia Thor-U processing system.

Another fundamental change occurred in passive safety: the SU7 gained a new mechanical door unlocking mechanism with triple redundancy, preventing occupants from being trapped after severe collisions. The manual handle on the passenger door is also painted bright red for quick identification in emergencies.

Inside, the central panel has grown slightly, adopting a 16.1″ screen. The console was rethought for the sake of ergonomics: the cup holders assumed a horizontal arrangement and the physical buttons were repositioned. On the outside, the rear tires have gained a slightly wider tread, ensuring more grip and stability on the track.
