Bentley’s personalization division, Mulliner, presented over the weekend in Tokyo a special edition of the Bentayga SUV focused on the female audience with high purchasing power. Named “Something Blue Collection” and restricted to only ten units exclusive to the Japanese market, the series avoids obvious aesthetic stereotypes. Instead, it bets on a restrained and sophisticated approach, in line with the quiet luxury trend. Unveiled at the elegant Ooyane Plaza complex, the model has a starting price of 34 million yen (about R$ 1.1 million).

The tradition of “something blue”

The inspiration for the name of the series comes from the Victorian Era. It is a tradition of Western weddings, quite popular in Japan, which dictates the use of “something blue” by the bride to symbolize luck, purity and fidelity. On the bodywork, the concept translates into the metallic white “Ice” paint, which exhibits subtle bluish reflections depending on the incidence of light. The exterior is finished off by 22-inch silver wheels and brake calipers finished in the same color as the vehicle.

In the cabin, the theme continues in careful doses. The handcrafted finish contrasts leather upholstery in Linen and Graphite Gray shades, with the dark surface covering the steering wheel, dashboard and center console. Blue appears in specific details, such as the embroidery of the manufacturer’s emblem on the seat backrests and the discreet floral motifs applied to the dashboard. Custom sills attest to the rarity of the edition.

The visual refinement, however, does not subtract from the mechanical vigor that characterizes the British brand. The Bentayga Something Blue maintains the renowned 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, responsible for delivering 542 hp of power and 77 kgfm of torque.

This mechanical architecture ensures satisfactory performance for a utility vehicle of large dimensions and weight. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a nimble 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 290 km/h. According to the automaker, much of this restricted production has already been sold.
