The Regional Electoral Court issued an alert reinforcing that vehicles registered on urban mobility platforms, such as Uber, 99 and inDriver, are prohibited from circulating with any type of electoral propaganda in the next elections. The restriction, based on federal legislation, prohibits everything from the affixing of stickers on windows and bodywork to the verbal request for votes by drivers during the provision of the service.

Although they are private property, app vehicles are legally classified as goods of common use for electoral purposes. The understanding is based on the fact that they are available to the general public, resembling spaces such as cinemas, stores and religious temples. According to the Electoral Court, the display of advertising in these places is prohibited to avoid embarrassment of passengers and ensure equity in the dispute.

The rule follows the rigor applied to taxis and buses, where political advertising is also prohibited by law. If an irregularity is identified, the passenger or any citizen can register the fact. The recommendation is to collect evidence, such as photos of the vehicle and the record of the ride in the application, forwarding the data to the Justice through the Pardal application, a free tool of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Failure to comply with the rules subjects the offender to administrative sanctions. Upon being identified, the driver or the person responsible for the advertisement is notified to remove the material within 48 hours. If the determination is not met, the legislation provides for the application of fines ranging from R$ 2,000 to R$ 8,000. The monitoring aims to curb the abuse of economic power and ensure that passenger transport is not used as a tool of coercion or irregular propaganda during the campaign period.
