after delays in the supply chain, compact SUV begins to be manufactured in Sorocaba with hybrid engine and warranty of up to 10 years
Toyota made official this Monday (27) the start of commercial production of the Yaris Cross at its plant in Sorocaba (SP). The move marks the Japanese automaker’s definitive entry into the dispute for the compact SUV segment, the hottest in the domestic market.
The first units are expected to arrive at the dealership network between the end of February and the beginning of March 2026, exceeding the original schedule impacted by weather issues that affected engine production in Porto Feliz.
With a length of 4.31 meters and a wheelbase of 2.62 m, the model bets on interior space and energy efficiency to face rivals such as Volkswagen T-Cross and Hyundai Creta.

Under the hood, the Yaris Cross offers two distinct configurations. The entry-level versions use the 1.5-liter aspirated flex engine, calibrated to deliver up to 122 hp. The top variants bring the flex hybrid set, which combines a 91 hp combustion engine with an 80 hp electric one. The combined power is 111 hp, with emphasis on urban consumption, which can reach 17.9 km/l according to labeling data.

The commercial strategy includes a version dedicated to the PCD public and prices that position the car aggressively. Check out the official table:
| Model | Value |
|---|---|
| XR BRL 149.990 | |
| XRE | BRL 161.990 |
| XRX | BRL 178.990 |
| XRE Hybrid | BRL 172.390 |
| XRX Hybrid | BRL 189.990 |

As standard, all configurations have six airbags, LED headlights and a 10-inch multimedia center. The top-of-the-line XRX version adds a panoramic sunroof, 360° vision system, blind spot monitor and 18-inch alloy wheels.

To build customer loyalty, the brand bets on the “Toyota 10” program. The system automatically renews the vehicle’s warranty at each periodic service in the authorized network, and can extend coverage for up to a decade at no additional cost.
