Koenigsegg has officially started production of the Gemera, six years after the original concept was presented to the public. Unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show, the four-seater hypercar arrives on the assembly line at the Ängelholm plant in Sweden, with substantial changes in its mechanical assembly and with all the planned print run already sold.

Manufacturing begins in the “Gripen Atelier”, a new wing of the plant dedicated to highly complex models. The Gemera will be mounted next to the CC850, a model that pays homage to the brand’s first production car and stands out for its transmission capable of operating simultaneously as a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic.

Originally, the Gemera provided for a hybrid system consisting of a 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine and three electric motors, totaling 1,724 hp and 356.9 kgfm. However, in 2023, the brand revised the architecture: the three electric motors were replaced by a single high-performance unit called “Dark Matter”, which delivers 800 hp and reduces the complexity of the system.

To satisfy customers looking for even more extreme performance, the manufacturer optionally made available the 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the Jesko model. When combined with the electric engine, the set reaches 2.300 hp and 276,3 kgfm. The massive preference for this configuration caused Koenigsegg to discontinue the three-cylinder version even before commercial production began.

The Gemera is limited to only 300 copies, all reserved by customers in 2020. The model inaugurates the “Mega-GT” category, combining the performance of a track car with the practicality of an interior for four adults and luggage space, while maintaining the iconic vertically opening doors that characterize the Swedish brand’s vehicles.
