Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2027 S-Class lineup, promoting the biggest update ever made within the same generation of the luxury sedan. Although it maintains the current platform, the manufacturer claims that more than 50% of the vehicle’s components have been replaced or reformulated. The focus of the change is no longer just the mechanics to transform the model into a “supercomputer on wheels”, debuting the new proprietary MB architecture. OS.

The cabin abandons the previous vertical layout to adopt the “MBUX Superscreen”, a set of three horizontal screens that occupy the entire dashboard. The system operates with built-in artificial intelligence (provided by Google and Microsoft) and digital avatars that interact with occupants. To raise the level of thermal comfort, the model even introduces heated seat belts and an improved massage system.

Under the hood, German engineering has updated all the options. The S500 4Matic now uses a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine tuned to 442 hp and 65,3 kgfm. The S580 4Matic keeps the 4.0 twin-turbo V8, but calibrated for 530 hp and 76,5 kgfm. The S580e plug-in hybrid variant combines the six-cylinder with a renewed electric motor, totaling 576 hp.

Ride comfort, a hallmark of the S-Class, is enhanced by the updated E-Active Body Control system. The air suspension now acts predictively, reading the imperfections of the asphalt milliseconds before passing through them to cancel out bumps.

Visually, the changes seek to impose more presence. The front features an enlarged and illuminated grille, accompanied by the traditional star on the hood — which now also has its own lighting. The optical set debuts the Digital Light Twin-Star technology, capable of projecting symbols on the road and masking the high beam with greater precision.
