Toyota and Nissan, miniature producer Tomica and McDonald’s have announced an exclusive partnership for the Japanese market involving the Toyota GR GT3 competition model, among others. The sports car developed by the Gazoo Racing division will be integrated into the catalog of gifts for the local version of the Happy Meal.

The marketing initiative aims to increase the visibility of the vehicle prior to its homologation and debut in track championships, a model that will also serve as the basis for the brand’s future street supercar, the GR GT. The automaker’s strategy seeks to retain from children to adult collectors.

Distribution Phases and Hidden Model

The campaign was structured in two stages, adopting the closed packaging system (“blind-box”), which prevents the consumer from choosing the item in advance. The first batch will be distributed between April 10 and 23, 2026, containing the miniature Toyota GR GT3 with the original Gazoo Racing color scheme. It will be accompanied by a Hino fire truck, a Toyota TownAce light commercial vehicle adapted as a mobile snack bar and a Nissan Skyline sports car configured as a police car.

The second cycle of the promotional action will operate from April 24 to May 7, providing a Megalodon transporter truck, an ambulance based on the Nissan Caravan van and a themed bus from the restaurant chain. This phase will introduce a secret vehicle to the catalog; analyses of the silhouette released suggest a variant of the GR GT3 characterized with the yellow and red McDonald’s visual pattern. All parts are made of die-cast metal and come with customized sticker sheets.

In parallel with the distribution, the Japanese automaker has opened registration for the “GR GT3 Wrapping Design Contest”. The public will be able to submit visual identity and wrapping projects designed for the vehicle’s body in full scale. The proposals best technically evaluated by the manufacturer will guarantee additional prizes to the participants. The event, however, is restricted to Japan.
