Release in the expanded center continues until January 9 due to the end of the year holidays; inspection will resume on the 12th
As of this Monday (22), the municipal rotation of vehicles for automobiles is suspended in São Paulo. The measure, announced by the City Hall, will be in effect until January 9, 2026. The decision reflects the traditional drop in the volume of traffic in the capital of São Paulo during the holiday period, driven by the school recess and the collective vacations of various sectors of the economy.
With the release, passenger cars can circulate freely through the Expanded Center — an area delimited by the Mini-Beltway — at any time, regardless of the end of the sign. The suspension covers the morning (7 am to 10 am) and afternoon (5 pm to 8 pm) peaks, facilitating travel for those who remain in the city or prepare to leave for the coast and interior.

Inspection also remains active for the exclusive bus lanes and corridors. The driver who disrespects the rules in force for trucks and chartered vehicles will be subject to an infraction of a medium or serious nature, depending on the framework. In the case of rotation, the fine is R$ 130.16, with the addition of four points to the National Driver’s License (CNH).
The return of auto restrictions is scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026. As of this date, the prohibition of circulation on the ring road formed by the Tietê and Pinheiros marginal roads is back in force, as well as avenues such as Bandeirantes, Afonso d’Escragnolle Taunay, Abraão de Moraes, Tancredo Neves, Provisional Boards, Viaduct Grande São Paulo, Professor Luís Ignácio de Anhaia Mello and Salim Farah Maluf.
